Kidnap the Santy Claws by So-lou Kidnap the Santy Claws by So-lou
26 colours, MS Paint, 4 hours.

Oh I dithered the bath tub. Happy everyone? I think it looks SHIT. I tried anti-aliasing but nooo nobody can give me tips on that. "Just dither it" pfft

Don't you think I had tried dithering? I am after all the dither queen. THE DITHER QUEEN I SAY. And for once I didn't want to dither. Well now I have so it looks positively crap. ><

This is awesome, I love that dithered bathtub. Personally, I don't like dithering unless it is well done, and i think your dithering is excellent :D

For antialias, l use photoshop: paint a single pixel of color "A" and then a pixel with color "B" just by its side; Then use the scale tool (CTRL + T) and stretch the two pixels just a little (depending how many levels of gradient you want), press ENTER and you'll get a gradient :D

How come a NBC fan like me hasn't seen this until now? A year and some months later? Either way, I used to do pixel work, but not at all like what you are able to accomplish. o_o I have a big respect for people who do pixeling, vexeling, and vectoring. It's simply amazing.

You've never heard of it? According to =ChewedKandi here, "Vexel art is just like vector art but on raster layers... it uses all the same tools, just not on vector layers".

And, of course, you're welcome! :)

:O its so nice! i like the shading,. i'm new to pixeling so when i do shading i dont do a those little dots that fade into the next shade. do you draw those by hand or do you use some kinda of application on a paint program thats does some kinda special crap? i just try the shading by hand and stoof.

The little dots are pixels seeing as it's pixel art. And the term is dithering, when they checkered-pattern like that.

No, you do it by hand. :| That is pixel art.

I just stumbled across this while browsing.
I'm very impressed! Dither queen indeed. :)
I'm just a newbie pixel artist but even I can see the amazing talent in this.
It's also nice to see actual pixel artists are out there. I have just spent over half an hour scouring Deviantart with the search filters. I found lots of dollz, a few photographs and some videogame -screenshots-, but overall not a whole lot of real pixel art. So I thank you for this. You made my day.

Also, Tim Burton always makes me happy in the pants. So extra bonus points for that. :D

HAHA happy in the pants... me too! In the knickers. :D

No shizer, I have to wade through endless hours of crud to find pixel art worthy of looking at in the pixel art section. Wish DA would get off it's bum and fix it. >> << >> But yeah, thanks for the comments. <3

I love the word knickers. I even used it as an msn name for a while. :D
And yeah, I do wish DA would do something about it, but with the amount of users (most of which seem to have been dropped on their heads) it would be a daunting task. Then again hey I'd take the job of DA asskicker for free!

For making fanart of Nightmare Before Christmas of Lock, Shock and Barrel, you get kudo points.

I can critique, but only by edited example, so I'll just say that the "satring" on the flail looks fat at some points, so a dithered chain appearence might be better.

effin typos. "string"

And agree with Meko about legs, try adding a highlight on the front tubleg at the top instead of shading.

This must be one of the most original pieces of pixel art I've ever seen. The colors and the setting makes it surprising and amusing.

You're not bad at all with antialiasing. The characters are already quite antialiased and the edges of the bathtub looks smooth. Of course I have to say that the dithering was the best part. it must have taken a lot of time. But the separation between the tones is too clear. Sometimes you can let escape some pixels further away from the cross-shaded area, that increases smoothing.

I was a little confused because of the preview in copper colors. I'm not saying you should change that, but at least it would be interesting to know why the preview is in different colors.

Thank you for making this! I was tired to see just dollies and sprites in the Pixel Art gallery. Good work :)

Heh, whoa! It may be just a tad original but the subject matter definitely isn't. :XD: Thanks, you wouldn't believe how often I changed the colours.

The dithering didn't take too long a time partly because I hated it and therefore subconsciously wanted to finish it quickly HENCE how bad it looks still. I definitely need to clean it up a bit.

I like the maroon colour for the preview image, it looked best on black as the original piece didn't. *shrug* I kinda like it.

ME TOO I'm sick of seeing BAD 'DOLLZ'. I only like seeing good, well done ones. Ergh.

Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it when comments are well thoughout out like this. :)

Very stylish piece. Amazing how well you caught these guys persona using pixel art .. brings back a lot of fond memories when I watched it (uh, like almost ten times when I first got it!).

As for the dithering, I think that it looks pretty tight. It appears a littler weird toward the righter end because of the really dark shade there and you can really see the checkered-board dithering pop out at you, but it's still quite alright. Overall, impressive.

The shading is wonderful! Good job on the dithering (I think that is what it is called. My mind is not working right so far today lol) I absolutely love this movie! I keep missing it when it is on tv though. Hubby won't let me watch it because it scares the kids LOL. I need to get it on DVD for myself :P

It looks great! Ok I can understand why you don't want to dither. Once you've started dithering it's hard to break away from that habit. So good luck with the "no-dithering" :)
